Mati Hint was the ideologue behind the language law, and thanks to his courage, attempts to change it at the last moment were thwarted. His rebelliousness thus benefited the Estonian state. The film explores the role of Southern Estonia's fertile landscapes and harsh historical conditions in shaping a person with an uncompromising nature and a rebellious spirit. Mati Hint passed away on December 5, 2019, the same day the Year of the Estonian Language came to an end. Isn’t that meaningful?
