"Demons" (Deemonid), directed by Ain Mäeots, is a 2012 Estonian drama that delves into the lives of three seemingly ordinary individuals—Joko, Reeda, and Ants—whose encounters with gambling lead them down tumultuous paths. Joko is a thirty-something copywriter at an advertising agency. Initially developing a casino advertisement, he becomes enticed by the glamorous image he helped create, leading him into a spiral of gambling addiction.​

Reeda, a lifelong mathematics teacher, stumbles upon gambling through friends. A significant win sparks her belief that she can provide more for her family through gambling, only to find herself ensnared by its grip.​

Ants, the manager of a sanitary warehouse, seeks companionship and excitement. Influenced by a colleague's success at the casino, he ventures into gambling, hoping to fill the void in his life.​

The film portrays how their initial innocent forays into gambling evolve into destructive habits, leading to a cascade of lies and emotional turmoil for themselves and their loved ones.​
